Charles McWherter brings over 60 years of business success and construction experience to Staalsen Construction Company where he continues the heritage and values of Staalsen Construction Company. He is recognized for his integrity, expertise and thorough knowledge of the building process. He is highly respected among his peers and recognized for his long term relationships with clients, subcontractors and associates.
Charles began bricklaying with Engmark Masonry in 1947. In 1949, he received his International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman membership. After a hiatus of serving in the United States Marine Corps, Charles at Henry Staalsen’s invitation in 1955 joined the company as a mason foreman where he quickly became Henry’s partner in the firm. In 1957, Staalsen Construction Company was incorporated, with Charles as Vice President and Henry as President. Upon Henry’s retirement in 1981, Charles became President.
Charles leadership, expertise and integrity are reflected throughout the company. His commitment to others oriented service, quality workmanship and customer satisfaction is replicated by employees and associates. His leadership in the swift pacing of work, expertise in addressing unique challenges innovatively, and dedication to complete every project toward an assurance of repeat clients and referral work is grasped by all staff and associates. His know-how and depth and breadth understanding of construction promote a “can-do” spirit and “we can make this happen” attitude, providing vitality, value and benefit to every project.
Charles passion for hard work, love for the Lord and heart for ministry are all intrinsically embedded and evident in his daily life. His leadership, wisdom and discernment are highly sought after on numerous boards and organizations and include Central Security Insurance Company, Galilee Baptist Church, Pine Trail Camp, Conservative Baptist Association, Denver Theological Seminary Board, Youth for Christ, Conservative Baptist Home Missions Board, and Joy In The Harvest.
Charles and his wife, Robbie, attend New Life Community Church, formerly Galilee Baptist Church where they are active and have been members for over 60 years. They have one adult daughter, Ruth, (Ken) and three grandsons.
